Hogs Higher Ahead of Cold Storage Report

Lean hog futures are up $1.37 to $2.17 in the nearbys. December Pork Cutout futures are up $1.97. The CME Lean Hog Index for Nov 19 was down another 63 cents at $68.14. USDA’s National Average Base Hog price was down $1.02 at $57.81 in the AM report. USDA’s National Pork Carcass Cutout value was back up 78 cents on Monday morning. The ham was the only primal lower as retail buying ahead of Thanksgiving slows. The monthly Cold Storage report will be out later this afternoon. USDA’s estimate for the week’s federally inspected hog slaughter was 2.711m head through Saturday. That was up 28k head wk/wk, but down from 2.767m last year. YTD hog slaughter remains 0.8% ahead of 2019’s pace. 

DEC 20 Hogs are at $65.500, up $1.375,
FEB 21 Hogs are at $67.450, up $2.100
APR 21 Hogs are at $70.400, up $2.175
DEC 20 Pork Cutout is at $81.275, up $1.975,
